Our 2025 Quilt Show chair, Jodi Hassell, has selected Eddie Walker from Walla Walla to be our featured guest artist. Eddie is a mother of 2 adult children, Nana to 5 beautiful grandchildren, quilter, carver, woodturner, and pattern designer.
"I have always been a crafter, and love to create………everything from painting, to carving Folk Art Santas. Quilting is my current passion. I started quilting in 1998, when I became the owner of a Gammill Longarm quilting machine...and all the vintage quilts that made me drool, became doable with new techniques and tools available today.
I love to simplify a traditional quilt pattern to make it easier to construct. I enjoy teaching at Local Quilt Shops, and doing workshops for guilds in the Northwest. My personal view on quilting…….
'simplify the construction, enjoy the process and take pride in the accomplishment'
I found that when Covid became part of our lives, we as quilters became isolated…..As restrictions lifted, I opened my studio Powered by Fabric in Walla Walla to encourage quilters to come together and share their passion. We are going on our 3rd year now…..quilting, crafting, sewing, having classes and in general bonding and making new friends."
Jodi challenged Eddie to convert a paper-pieced, vintage quilt block into a pieced block. She was up to the challenge and the Vintage Spinner Rewound quilt was born. Eddie taught two classes for this quilt on July 17th and August 7th at White Bluffs. The class was lots of fun. There will be many examples from the classes hanging together in the 2025 quilt show to honor Eddie's wonderful teaching skills.
