Heather Black is a quilter, pattern designer, fabric designer, and book author from Sandpoint, ID.  Heather is a single (widowed) mother of a beautiful little girl who sneaks quilting in whenever possible.  She began oil painting and watercolors at age 9.  She continued to paint as an adult but never liked the clean up, especially cleaning brushes, so she basically gave it up. Starved for a creative outlet, a friend suggested they make quilts.  She began seriously quilting in the summer of 2011 and finished her first quilt in November 2011. She quilted her first quilt by hand ( queen), not knowing you could do it on a domestic machine. She now finishs almost all her quilts on her longarm.

She chose the name Quiltachusetts for her website because that's what her late husband, Stephen, called her sewing room. He'd casually say, "are you going to quilt-achusetts?" and it stuck. "At the time I thought it was a fun name and now I'm very proud to use it."

She's a modern to contemporary quilter and designer with a love for bold geometric designs.
