The Guild tries to schedule one or two workshops a year from regional or nationally known artists.
The Guild schedules a lecture and/or trunk show for the membership meetings, followed by a workshop the next day.
If you would like to suggest an artist or topic, use the Contact form to let us know.
Our August 17th membership meeting speaker will be Diane Harris of Stash Bandit-Quilting Shenanigans. Diane’s lecture will be Scrap Quilt Potluck: Improv and Inspiration.
Diane Harris is a scrap quilt specialist. After 11 years as an editor for Quiltmaker magazine, she formed Stash Bandit to help quilters use their fabric collections and make quilts that are both unique and beautiful. She never met a fabric she didn’t like. Her work is featured in a variety of publications in the US and abroad. She lives on a working farm in rural Nebraska and has been quilting for more than 40 years.
On Tuesday, August 18th, Diane will give a workshop on Color, Contrast, and Cohesion. These three C’s can make or break your quilt. Learn to control them with practical exercises as you begin a simply pieced scrap quilt. Learn why color is the least important of the three C’s. Discover ways to unify diverse fabrics and wrap your mind around the way value and contrast work together. Get comfortable with making decisions as you go, because that’s what a scrap quilt requires.
