 2020 Workshops

Velda Newman - Texture and Form

Nature is an endless source of beauty and inspiration.  With this in mind, learn how to get rid of the "flat" look and turn your fabric into something interesting!  Students will create texture by using simple machine techniques which can be used for quilts or clothing.  The samples students create the first day will be used the second day as a basis for learning how to apply paint to textiles.  Using water-based acrylics, inks, and other items Velda will furnish, you will learn how to create depth and shading on your fabric.

We regret to inform you that the workshop scheduled for May 19-20 has been cancelled due to the coronavirus.  We do not have a new date at this time.

Coming in September

Kathy McNeil is an internationally award-winning quilt artist, teacher, author, and judge. Hand sewing thousands of little scraps of fabric together by hand, she creates quilts that look like paintings. Often using over a hundred different fabrics in one composition, she revels in adding small details and surprises for the viewers to find. Her award-winning quilts are featured in museums, magazines, calendars, and international shows.  She will lecture at both September Guild meetings and offer a 3-hour workshop between them and a 6-hour workshop on September 21, 2020.
